What we know and what we don't know

Wyatt is home and has adjusted well to his new surroundings. He has seen his pediatrician for his first check up and weighed 6 lbs 9 oz. He also put on a show for the waiting room, giving a big yell as he was making his exit.

Owen is still in the NICU at Vanderbilt. He is now feeding through a tube, getting more food each day. He is up to about an ounce every 3 hours, weighing in today @ 5 lbs 1 oz. He is accepting mom's nourishment and his system is working as it should be for processing food. They are going to be taking him off of phenabarbytol today which is one of the seizure medications he has been on since Sunday. It is a sedative drug so we are already getting to see him open his eyes a little and move his body around a little more. He will remain on Keppra (seizure med) at this point. At 11 am this morning the nurse turned off his heat to see if his little body can maintain its core temperature on its own. Also since he got a picc line (better than an iv). Yesterday they took the IV out of his head and we are thinking the line in his hand will be gone this afternoon. We are glad to see all his hair again...it is so cool.

At this point we are praying for the following things for Owen:

Ability to maintain his core temperature
React well to the reduction in seizure medication
His body will continue healing both in short and long term
